MumChat was established in November 2006 to provide an intimate, safe, friendly place for Mums to meet and chat. Originally founded by a group of Mums as a refuge from the mayhem of the big commercial discussion boards, it has developed from there into a solid, friendly place that we are very proud of.
The site is run by a husband and wife team, Allison and Brent. You will find Allison in the discussion boards under the title 'Al_and_Lily'. Brent also pops up from time to time (when technical things need dealing with) as 'BrentusAsparagus', and is more commonly referred to in the boards as 'the techie guy'. Allison and Brent have a baby daughter, Lily, who of course led to the whole 'Mum' thing.
There are a lot of other parenting-related discussion boards out there, and we don't hope to try and compete with them in terms of size or number of members. We're hoping to grow, yes, because it would be a shame to keep such a good thing to ourselves, but we hope to keep the feel of a group of good friends chatting.
In the future we hope to expand the resources in the public area of the site. We will also try to open up a site for Dads as well.
